New Country Managers in Kenya and Tanzania

Security Group Africa have appointed two new Country Managers for Kenya and Tanzania country units. Greg Smith joined the Tanzania Team in April and Tomie Hellerstedt joined the Kenya Team in July 2011.

Greg Smith is a career security manager with experience all over Africa. As well as a professional military background, he has extensive experience of the petro-chemical industry and is a certified OHASA specialist.

In recruiting Mr. Smith, SGA have looked for skill sets reflecting the increasing sophistication of service delivery demanded by clients. Mr. Smith has extensive exposure in managing security portfolios in the mining and extraction industries, oil exploration and logistics. and the increasingly complex health and safety requirements in commercial and industrial settings is a further divergence for most customer’s core business.

SGA’s approach to the client/service provider partnership is to provide a global service interaction to manage these non core function, something which Mr. Smith  is very keen to promote in Tanzania and around the rest of the Group. We look forward to future developments in this area.

Tomie Hellerstedt joined Security Group Africa on 1st July 2011 to take up the position of Kenya Country Manager. Mr. Hellerstedt has 24 years of commercial experience in East Africa prior to joining SGA and we look forward to new developments in  service scope and delivery in Kenya as he settles in.

Mr. Hellerstedt was also a professional military officer in the Swedish Army and has an extensive service record with the UN peace keeping forces. He was involved in founding the medical evacuation and medical insurance industry in Kenya as well as building up a substantial security services operation in the country. His extensive experience in Kenyan commercial security is expected to reinforce the quality and breadth of service of SGA’s portfolio as well as to manage emerging technology products.
